The Lodge.

Our sanctuary for hunters.

At High Peak, we think a great hunting trip requires a few key ingredients – Great people, great country, great animals, great food and a good night’s sleep.

Our lodge, known on the station as the Cookshop, satisfies the last two ingredients nicely. Located right in the heart of the station yard, the Cookshop was originally built in the 1870s. For the first 145 years, the Cookshop housed shearers for the station’s 11,000 sheep at the time. After an extensive renovation in 2020, the Cookshop now boasts four ensuite bedrooms, two private cabins, full kitchen, dining and comfortable living spaces.

Heritage and history combine with modern amenities for a true hunters’ sanctuary.

Generous rooms for a restful sleep.

A well-rested hunter is a happy hunter.

When you have travelled halfway across the world for a dream hunt, a good night’s sleep makes all the difference. Our high quality king beds are perfect for couples, or they can be split for two hunters. With fresh linen and woollen duvets combined with ample storage and an ensuite, our rooms make for an excellent base for your hunt.

In addition, we have two cabins that share a bathroom in the main lodge, perfect for single hunters or couples.

Ensuites for comfort and convenience.

At High Peak, we encourage our hunters to share their hunt with their most important people.

For this reason, the four bedrooms in the Cookshop are each equipped with an ensuite for comfort and privacy. The showers offer endless hot water and the sort of massaging pressure that can only come from a pure spring-fed supply 600 feet above the lodge. Having your own space makes the enjoyment of the hunt that much easier.

Located right in the heart of the action.

High Peak is more than just a hunt – it’s a full working station that gives our guests the opportunity to experience life on a family-owned New Zealand sheep, cattle and deer farm.

The Cookshop is located right in the heart of the yard where much of the action happens. Flanked by the 100-year old woolshed and adjacent to the original 160-year old homestead, there is much to see and do as shepherds, guides and family members go about their daily lives.

Best of all, you’re only five minutes from incredible hunting.

The Hut, our bush retreat.

Every good hunting estate needs a bush cabin!

The Hut is located as far from the Cookshop as it is possible to get on High Peak. Nestled in the bush deep within the hunting estate, the Hut is our take on a classic New Zealand bush cabin. Offering sleeping for eight, a huge open fire, solar lights and gas hot water, the Hut is set up as a sanctuary for hunters to rest by day, overnight or at length.

We think you’ll love it.

Everything you need.

And nothing you don’t – right in the heart of the Station.
